Not a good journey

Thanks to some bastard who stole the track-side signalling cables that ran between Taunton and Bridgwater, my journey north took two hours longer than expected. Still, others had it worse than me. At Bristol, the train morphed from being the 09:30 to Edinburgh into the 11:00 to Manchester, forcing everyone travelling north of Birmingham to change — something that must have been particularly annoying for those who'd bothered to book seats.
