sawylReading the Guardian on the bus home yesterday evening, skimming the obits, I was saddened to learn of the death of Nikolaus Harnoncourt, a brilliant conductor and one of the towering figures of the historically informed performance movement.
Unsure of what to pick, I've gone for a rather lovely version of Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben — heart and mouth and deed and life — with its sprightly opening and the two famous chorales that close each half:
