Leading the wall
May. 4th, 2016 09:30 pmFirst lead session for quite a while and first ever with L at the other end of the rope. Despite some initial worries, I quickly got into the zone and enjoyed absolutely everything we tried. I even managed to take a decent fall after trying and failing to stick a dynamic move on a route with a rather featureless top section. Most of the things we tried were, I suspect, original set as top-rope routes. Consequently some of the clips were rather awkwardly placed and the grading didn't seem particularly relevant to the difficulty of the route.
L had a good time and finally sent his boulder project just as the setters were preparing to strip the room for a forthcoming comp. Technically he might have done it as a crouch rather than sit start, but it totally counts: I'm pretty sure the room's problem list omitted starting conditions for any of the problems, leaving people to make their own minds up about the correct initial placement.
