State of the supercomputing art

I wonder if the Hector people know that they no longer need to spend 52 million of our taxes on a new big shiny. Instead, all they've got to do is set up a couple of old Linux PCs with SSH and PVM and they'll be well on their way.

Of course, if it turns out they do need more computing power after all, it looks like people have ported this PVM thing to an exciting new machine called a CRAY C90, whatever that may be...
