Webdav calendaring
Jan. 12th, 2006 06:53 pmI've finally found the time to setup a webdav calendar server for Sunbird, something that was actually pretty straight forward. I updated the apache config file to include mod_digest and mod_dav, then I added a location recipe to enable mod_dav on a particular directory:
<Location /dav/sawyl>
Dav On
AuthType Digest
AuthName "webdav"
AuthDigestFile digest.passwd
<LimitExcept GET OPTIONS>
require user sawyl
</LimitExcept>
</Location>
I then created the digest.password with "htdigest -c digest.passwd webdav sawyl", restarted httpd and found that I could mess with the contents of my dav directory using cadaver. I also found that I was able to update my calendar with Sunbird but not with iCal, which makes me suspect that my version of iCal doesn't support digest authentication. Apart from this minor wrinkle, everything else is pretty shiny and I've now got a proper centralised calendaring system.
