BoM and ANU pick Sun
Mar. 19th, 2009 09:22 pmFor anyone who hasn't heard, BoM and ANU are buying a pair of supercomputers from Sun.
It's interesting that the Bureau have decided to go scalar rather than vector, although this may have something to do with current to tune the UM for pSeries, and interesting that they've decided to go for Sun — who, presumably, offered an Intel or AMD solution with an Infiniband interconnect, rather something sparc based. But it's sad news for NEC, who've been in the incumbent for a decade and more.
