Kicking around in London
Mar. 27th, 2010 10:27 pmDown to London to meet my aunt and my grandmother for lunch. Unable to cope with the need to provide vegetarian food — normally she favours guests with some sort of processed kosher chicken — we decided to go for lunch at Beyoglu in Belsize Park.
Mid-afternoon, we went our separate ways. My parents headed off to prepare for tomorrow's party, while my grandmother and aunt went off to Enfield to watch a performance of the St Matthew Passion, featuring another aunt's choral society. I meanwhile, went for a wander round the West End, checking out bookshops and comic shops and trying to restrain myself from buying out their entire stock. Eventually tiring of window shopping, I took myself off to the National Gallery where I happened to catch the Christen Købke exhibition.
When I eventually caught up with the rest of the gang, they'd already decided that we were going to the Aroma Spice, which seems to be my parents' regular Indian restaurant when they're in town. The food was good and vanished in no time at all, despite my suspicion that we'd seriously over ordered.
