CM5: Haunted and Reckoner

I was going to go out on my bike but the valve on my back tire exploded when I tried to crank the pressure up, so I've had to stay in and watch Criminal Minds instead.

There were some nice Hotch moments in Haunted, with everyone supporting him as he tries to get back on the horse. I liked Reid's answer when Hotch asked him how long he'd had the leg injury: I'm not really sure. I also liked the way that they trusted us to get to tardive dyskinesia before the team and ooh, an Emily Dickinson quote for the open. I'm not quite convinced by JJ's new look — a bit too comedy schoolgirl — but I liked the little moment at the end with Em in Hotch's apartment, emphasizing the take home message and making sure that mom holds it together.

I liked the Rossi backstory in Reckoner, especially his dodgy, restaurant owning childhood friend and the ending? Just perfect. And the Reid and Garcia double act was superb: "I am a doctor, so technically it wasn't a lie", "You're my bitch now!" But I still don't see how Garcia gets from "crater creator" (10) to "arctangent", which surely should have been (3, 7) and not (10). I suppose "meteorites" might be a more likely answer, but in the case shouldn't the clue have been in the plural?

Hmm. Maybe the clue doesn't work. But at least the sibling comedy does...

Scalzi on why he doesn't kill, crush and destroy

Scalzi explains why he doesn't use his vasty powers to crush up and coming writers. Short answer: he's too busy and if he tried to mobilise his mighty internet hordes, they'd just decide that he was being an arse and ignore him:
