The source of my recent nagging finger problem has revealed itself: having somehow torn the nail last week, it had become infected and suppurating and painful. Fortunately (and disgustingly) most of the matter appears to have spontaneously drained itself off and things — such as my typing skills — now feel like they're starting to return to normal...
