A unexpectedly cold shower

Not the greatest start to my birthday: I was in the shower, in the middle of washing my hair, when the power abruptly cut out. I stumbled out, checked that the lights were still working and was about to ask someone to do something when everything came back to life. Worried that I might accidentally electrocute myself, I managed to complete a hurried scrub and headed downstairs.

Whereupon I discovered the cause of the problem: I innocently attempted to make a spot of toast, only for the breakers to trip out yet again. Once I'd finished complaining that (a) my parents had failed to disconnect the faulty gadget after noticing the problem, as I would have done, and (b) that the fuse should have gone before the breaker, I actually had quite a nice birthday.
