Falling better
Jul. 4th, 2013 10:00 pmAn evening of climbing with R rescheduled from last night in the aftermath of a work-related crisis. It actually worked really well: with enough time to recover from Sunday but not so much that we weren't still in the groove, we were both on really good form. We cracked a good few new routes, including a couple of sixes, almost finished a few others, and I liked the last route we climbed so much I did it twice just to prove I could.
But it wasn't all plain sailing. I messed up the last move on a 6a because the last hold was very pinchy and by that point I was too tired to get the grip I needed to match my feet, while R missed the last move on a long 5+ because, I think, she didn't quite have enough reach for the penultimate hold — I was only able to do it because I've got slight more reach and because I was able to stand on point with my toes on the very edge of the foothold.
Anyway a good time was had by all and, in the exciting news stakes, I learnt that R's dog's ear infection has cleared up and he's allowed to swim in the sea again. Excelsior!
