I warned you it was nasty...

Missed the CE's leaving party in favour of a pre-arranged dental checkup. No problems were found with my teeth, although the dentist balked at the unpleasantly large ulcer at the back and ordered me to return in a week's time for another inspection. From the feel of thing and long experience of their general life-cycle, I think it has passed peak pain and is on it's way to healing, so the chances are it'll be gone by next week but there's no harm in having it looked over once again.
