On being forgetful

I've come to the sad realisation that I've probably lost my chalk bag. I had it on Sunday but I couldn't find it in my bag today and it doesn't seem to be around at home, so I'm forced to conclude I must have left it at the gym. It wasn't in lost property when I asked and while it's just possible one of the gang might have spotted it and picked it up for me, I'm reconciled to its loss.

As one of the Stoics — Zeno? — is said to have remarked after losing everything he owned in a shipwreck, perhaps it is simply the world telling me I have too many possessions...
