Completely uneventful journey back to Devon. Indeed the train, a rare eight carriage one, was actually early into New Street and I didn't have to spend any time waiting around on the platform. The downside of this was that that air on the platform was so thick with diesel exhaust that you could have stood a spoon up in it; but I tried not to breathe, hurried for the train, and closed the door behind me, blocking out the very worst of it.

I've spent the afternoon adjusting and uploading my Christmas photos, some of whom have come out better than expected, and going through and back-stitching them into my blog...

Via a repeat of an edition Words and Music entitled Hard Times on R3, a delightful discovery: The Unthanks' version of Frank Higgins' The Testimony of Patience Kershaw.

The combination of voices with the almost minimalist string quartet accompaniment is truly wonderful.
