After much intellectual searching and questioning, I managed to narrow my list of potential greatest philosophers down to three: Plato, Aristotle and Kant.

I agonised over my short list for a while, weighing up the merits of the Republic, thinking about Aristotle's contributions to logic and early scientific and pondering the influence of the Greek masters over the subsequent generation, but in the end, I realised that the two Greek Authorities were outshone by the Doctor of Konigsberg and that my only rational choice was to vote for Immanuel Kant.

Kant's work on transendental idealism, his work on the categorical imperative, his brilliantly logical and deeply rational approach to epistemology, none of this is open to doubt. He was philosophy's Isaac Newton. When I mentioned all this to the Padre, he said that he wasn't surprised by my choice - I guess I have gone through periods of neo-Kantian fanboyism in the past, so maybe it's not all that out of character. If nothing else, I've always been a sucker for a clever idea.
