Kathryn Hughes has a delightful piece in today's Guardian on the vagaries of cutlary, before recommending the knork:

So we should greet with joy the arrival of something called the knork. A hybrid of the knife and fork, it is apparently the only piece of cutlery we'll be using in the near future. With its wide and bevelled outer tines, the side of the knork acts like a knife, while its inner prongs deliver food safely to your mouth without any fear of cutting.

As someone who routinely attempts to use a regular fork in this fashion, often with appalling consequences for both my clothes and dining companions, the knork sounds like the greatest thing since the pastry fork...

The knork sounds good... but I can't see it dislodging the spork as the hybrid cutlery item of choice.

I think you're right: the knork weighs in at an eye-watering eight quid on Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Knork-Knife-Fork-in-One/dp/B000P1OXMA), whereas the spork comes free with a supermarket salad...
