Bookish temptations
Feb. 3rd, 2008 11:21 amShockingly, I've managed to pass the entirety of January without buying a single book. But, following a bookstore crawl yesterday, I feel myself weakening — I'm extremely tempted by Baudrillard's Simulacra and Simulation and by the half price deal on Iain Banks' Matter.
I'm also toying with the idea of attempting to read Being and Time but, if I'm being honest, don't really have the time to get into it properly and I'm not entirely sure how long my current enthusiasm for all things Continental will last — although I find existentialism and deconstruction intensely interesting, I'm too pragmatic to really buy into them and take the completely seriously.
