Undone II: Strange is Good
Feb. 24th, 2008 09:41 pmThe first series of Undone was always going to be a tough act to follow. But the second series has more than lived up to the strange promises made by predecessor.
There were public service announcements made by a troupe of pornographers. A peculiar range of Undone developed pharmaceutical, including monarch, which makes shy people behave like a despotic monarch from a fantasy novel, and adictin, which doesn't do anything other than make you crave more adictin. And yes, Morris Dance Dance Revolution and troubled eggs also featured.
Best of all, the series featured a couple of curve-ball episodes, one set in Edna's home town of Towcester — pronounced Toaster — and one where Edna's rather clueless boss, Carlo Jones, takes over narrative duties. This last was a particular delight, ending with poor Carlo stuck in University Gothic Hospital where the nurses are a bit gloomy, but ultimately very focused on the cure.
Let's hope that BBC7 can prevail on Ben Moor and his surreal imagination for more of the same, but different...
