Obama and his Nobel

My immediate reaction when I first read that President Obama had won this year's Nobel Peace Prize? To check that the source being cited wasn't The Onion. He seems to be a good guy and he seems to have done far more good than bad this year, but to dish out the gong this early in his presidency makes it look a bit like he's getting it simply because he isn't President Bush. I'd love it if Obama, with the courage of his evident convictions, declined the offer and asked the Nobel committee to check back with him in, oh, a decade or so...

Still, mustn't be churlish. I'd far rather the prize went to Obama than some I could think of.
