My luck seems to have recovered: just as I was trudging to the bus stop, reconciling myself to the horror of the roundabout bus into town, I happened to bump into Irish in his cavalier and managed to cadge a lift into town. Not only did I get home half an hour earlier than expected, but I also got to swap tales of woes with someone who'd also had a really crappy day.
