With almost no notice, I was asked to cover for a colleague in a meeting with some visitors from Toulouse. When I arrived, I discovered that the previous discussions had overrun, giving me a whole ten minutes of prep time.
I don't think I made a complete fool of myself — although it's often hard to tell! I think I gave the impression that I knew what I was talking about and I was able to answer all the questions without too much trouble. But I'm sure I could have done a better job had I but been slightly better prepared...
