Proms: Beethoven overtures and concertos

An impressive all Beethoven evening featuring two overtures and both the 1st and 4th piano concertos — an interesting juxtaposition of the classical and romantic sides of Beethoven's output. As soloist, Paul Lewis was on impressive form, easily managing differing sensibilities of the pieces and shining in the more pianistic passages.

It's left me looking forward to the rest of Lewis' Beethoven concerto cycle.
