Of laundry and flapjacks

sawylA day of much productivity. I had an efficient morning in the office, sorting a few long standing items from my to-do list before getting home and taking positive steps to avert the Great Laundry Apocalypse, vastly reducing the likelihood that next week might find me forced by desperation to wear an old Halloween costume.
On the food front, I tried out Thomasina Miers' flapjack recipe from one of last month's Guardian food supplements. The results were excellent; far better than my standard recipe. Softer and moister than usual, with a the almonds giving a nice cruch, the end produce was noticeably less sweet my normal recipe, probably because of the substitution of agave for golden syrup with its almost sickly edge.
