Em looks very sharp in dark blue. The UNSUB kept the victims paralysed but conscious? Nasty. I love everyone's delight at Garcia's new redhead look. "These garments fit ridiculously well. They're super flattering to each victim's exact measurements..." "Please tell me she is not killing these women because she needs human models..." JJ is suitably appalled. CoTW is a huge fan of retro facial hair. "She wants them to have the fun she never had" Rossi spots a telling detail. The ME matches my mental image of Madeline Frost, but personality wise she's worlds away. Something tells me poor Bethany isn't a Silence of the Lambs fan. I love the waxy sheen of the makeup on Mary Newsome's corpse but I'm slightly disturbed by Reid's wig recognition skills. The glockenspiel and harmonica music track on the transformation scene is very Final Fantasy.
CoTW doesn't buy the idea that they're searching for a doll collector. JJ resurfaces for the first time since the jet. "Let me take a look..." The seamstress pushes the manager out of the way, notices a detail and cracks the case. Nice acting in the tea party scene, with most of the characters reduced to significant glances. I'm sorry Doctor McGuffin, but I don't believe a word of your medico-scientific babble. Is there anything worse than a Red Queen dream sequence? Only one where your legs and arms fall off. Poor Bethany.

Meanwhile it seems Dr McGuffin was on the money and that the dream sequence was a foreshadow. So the UNSUB is a nurse now, as well as a tailor? Oooh Commander Riker is Evil Psychiatrist Father complete with Evil Goatee, Star Trek's universal Mark of Evil. Criminal Minds: by geeks, for geeks. Reid spots a telling detail and uses it to crucify Evil Riker. "Don't leave me..." the UNSUB is tragic, not evil. Reid and the missing dolls defuse the tension. "I promise, no one will ever take them away again" because Spence understands. And because he understands, he's back playing blitz chess in the park and gets to close the episode with an Asimov quote: "In life, unlike chess, the game continues after checkmate"
