sawylSlow start after yesterday's — actually this morning's — late bed and missing hour, with a long breakfast seemlessly and decadently colliding with an early lunch, for which we had the first lovage soup of the season. There was much talk about nursing and recruitment and international agreements with only the briefest of excursions into pedantry and geekery on my part — I was obviously making an effort to be on my best behaviour.
In the afternoon, while everyone else watched the last two episodes of The Killing, I walked to the station to arrange a seat reservation, the highlight of which was seeing someone being sick in a carpark at 2pm of an afternoon. Ah, Coventry, font of civility...
The day's comic relief was provided by sister and her characteristic impatience. In an attempt to cut corners, she'd painted her bathroom wall without troubling herself to check the instructions on the tin. Reckoning that there was no way that the (water-based) paint should require more than an hour to dry, she applied three coats with alacrity and congratulated herself on a job well done. She realised her mistake when the removal of the masking tape brought the newly applied skin of paint with it...
