Kudos to doctor_squale who scooped the Chief Executive's Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence at today's annual pre-Christmas Shindig. During the milling around after, one of my colleagues came out with an amusing comment about my (lack of obvious) motivation:

For someone who appears to be so laid-back and lackadaisical, you must be increadibly efficient because somehow you manage to get an awful lot done.

Which I regard as a supreme compliment. I expend a great deal of time and effort making what I do look easy, even when it's a case of having to do six impossible things before breakfast, so it's nice to get a bit of external confirmation that things are running according to plan.
