Firefighting like it's 2001 all over again

I'd hope to leave early today, but it wasn't to be. Thanks to a combination of things — the flare up of a problem previously thought to be under control and having to stand-in for someone who wasn't around — I spent the best part of a 10 hour day fightfighting. Still annoying as it might have been to lose quite so much time, both computer time and time beter spent working on more productive things, it was pleasing to see just how well we pulled together in a crisis. It was almost as though we were back in the halcyon days at the start of the last decade.
