And so, finally, to Coventry
Mar. 25th, 2013 09:49 pmLargely uneventful journey north, but I hit problems at New Street after some sort of power problem knocked out the majority of departures. After spending half an hour scurrying from platform to platform, I gave up and tracked down the next Virgin service for Euston, found myself a seat in the warm, and sat & waited for things to sort themselves out. I eventually arrived in Coventry 45 minutes late, but still just in time to catch M before he had to leave for Lincoln.
The rest of the afternoon was spent pottering around, listening to Composer of the Week the radio and showing off my ability to identify/guess particular performers by ear — a particularly source of smugness was my attribution of Der herr denket an uns to Ton Koopman and Amsterdam Baroque.
