A last stab at round one
May. 23rd, 2013 08:26 pmWanting to take a last stab at the current set of bouldering problems before Sunday's reset and also wanting to take advantage of the last day of my current membership, I stopped at the quay on the way home from work for a bit of solo stuff. I repeated everything I'd done so far and came close to cracking the next two in sequence, only to be confounded by the last moves. Both required strong left hand crimps but everytime I tried them, I could feel myself starting to slip — not at all reassuring in the case of the one with the (relatively) high finish.
But, as ever, there were positives: the realisation that a move I'd found tricky was actually much easier if I tucked my knee in once I was off the floor; the discovery that, the last move not withstanding, I'd gained enough stamina to make the long & smeary problem feel easy; and the discovery of fewer post-climb blisters than on previous occassions.
