Trying some new routes

sawylMet up with M for the first time in a while to climb a bunch of routes. Partly because the place was busy and partly because M is completely indomitable, we did one easy route as a warm-up and then spent the rest of the evening working on various 6s. I managed to cross a couple of new ones off my list and made decent progress on a 6b that I suspect I might have been able to do had I been fresher.
M made pretty decent attempts at everything, although she was definitely starting to run out of finger strength towards the end. She certainly didn't outclass me on one of the difficult new routes: we both got as far as the second overhang before realising that there was nothing but the arete to help get through the transition; when I realised this, I decided to come down, preserving my strength, with a plan to retry during the next session; when M released the same thing, she tried a move that was aggressive enough to yank me off my feet when she couldn't hold on to the edge. Which, I suspect, says something fundamental about our respective characters and approaches...
