sawylMy copy of Jo Walton's collection of essays, What Makes This Book so Great, has arrived earlier than expected. I'm insanely excited: Walton's encyclopaedic knowledge of literature is inspiring and humbling — I wish I was as well read — her critical approach is incisive and charitable, while her insights into reading & re-reading have been responsible for more than a few moments of personal revelation.
It feels as though Christmas has come a couple of weeks late this year.
