Reunited with a favourite bit of kit
Aug. 27th, 2015 10:55 pmRepacking my kit this morning, I couldn't find my chalk bag. After a couple of minutes of reflection, I dredged up a memory of taking it off and putting it on top of the cubby holes at the quay yesterday evening without any matching relocation of putting back in my bag again. Despite cursing it as a lost cause, I thought I'd check when I got down there — I was going anyway as part of my current bootcamp regime to recapture my former fitness — without much hope that it was going to resurface.
Reception was busy when I arrived, so I signed in and started doing things only to realise that, although I don't chalk up when I'm actually on things, I habitually tuck my hands in the bag before I start anything; and, not actually having my bag, I kept on catching myself putting my hands behind my back as if it was still there — a process that made me look like a total fool.
So when a quiet moment came round, I popped back up stairs and asked Gav if he could take a quick look in the lost property for me. Imagine my surprise when he came back with my little chalk bag on his first attempt. Proof that good things really do happen from time to time!
