My first parkrun
Oct. 24th, 2015 12:50 pmHaving rashly agreed with M to do this week's Riverside parkrun, I found myself heading down to the Quay in what I thought was good time to meet up before hand. But, having failed to plan sufficiently, I found myself in the wrong place and only realising my mistake when I heard a starting whistle off in the distance.
After checking with the stewards that it was still OK for me to start, I set off in pursuit. I caught the tail end of the run by the end of the first kilometre. I met M, who'd started on time, at the two klick mark. She chivalrously let me carry on at my own pace and by the end of the run I'd managed to make it most of the way up the field. In the end I finished with a time of 24 minutes. Not great, but tolerable, if you take into account my self-imposed starting penalty.
Goal for next week: to get to the start on time...
