After the market, we walked through along 14th to Union Square and then walked through Greenwich Village, pausing in Washington Square Park to put away some cold drinks and to listen to a man playing Chopin, Liszt, and Debussy on the piano. On our way through, we posed in front of the fountain:

We walked slowly back on 7th Avenue, checking out some of the shops and, eventually, paying the obligatory visit to Macy's where I failed to buy anything but somehow managed to kick off a running joke about bow ties that seems destined to stick with me forever. From Macy's we walked up to Times Square, where J dropped into Walgreens to buy her first bottle of Advil of the trip, and then back to the hotel in time to catch the others for social hour.

We ate a Bill's Bar & Burger, where I had two novel experiences. I got asked for ID, despite being in my early forties — something that made my holiday — and had an impossible burger for supper. I'm not entirely sold on the concept of something that tries to emulate meat — I went off the taste of meat an early age — but the idea of a burger with a lower environmental footprint isn't a bad one.

We ate a Bill's Bar & Burger, where I had two novel experiences. I got asked for ID, despite being in my early forties — something that made my holiday — and had an impossible burger for supper. I'm not entirely sold on the concept of something that tries to emulate meat — I went off the taste of meat an early age — but the idea of a burger with a lower environmental footprint isn't a bad one.
