Classic scabbing
May. 30th, 2006 10:20 amOn the subject of the AUT marking boycott, I recently heard an amusing story about a scab exam. The University in Question casting around for someone who might be willing to set an exam on labour relations, happened on a guy from the classics department who was willing to do the deed and asked him to set the paper. Unfortunately, the teacher of Greats knew nothing about the subject he was supposed to be setting for and, rather than use the summary of the course materials that were available on the internet, he used some bizarre and non-standard American textbook to set his questions. The result? A blackleg exam that bore absolutely no resemblance to the course that the students had been studying. Hard, really, to see how this might count as helpful to the students...
