As a long time fan of John Wyndham, I'm currently enjoying the ever reliable BBC 7's repeats of Day of the Triffids. As they played The Midwich Cuckoos last week and The Kraken Wakes last year, I hope that means they're going to repeat The Chrysalids sometime soon.

You haven't been recording these by any chance have you?

I had to go on holiday last week and missed episode 5 from the BBC7 "listen again" site, otherwise I'm current with recordings of all other broadcasts. As a long-time fan I've read most of Wyndham's books but digital radio is a new discovery for me and I wasn't aware of these excellent BBC recordings until recently.

Sadly not, but BBC7 generally repeats stuff pretty heavily, so it shouldn't be that long before it comes round again.

I think there's something about the tone of Wyndham's novels that seems to make them particularly well suited to an unabridged reading rather than a full dramatisation. I sometimes which the BBC would play more readings on BBC7, maybe repeating old Books at Bedtime — I certainly wouldn't mind hearing their excellent version of The Secret History again...
