Symbols of seriousness

Having dispensed with my recent facial hair at the weekend, I was caused to doubt the wisdom of my decision when it was pointed out that it had granted me much needed additional gravitas. Had it not been for my own observation that, having taken the necessary corrective action, I found that I looked like a twelve year old once all the fuzz had gone, I would have suspected my informant of winding me up. As it is, I merely have dark doubts. Especially about the gravitas thing.
