After a lazy lunch with [livejournal.com profile] doctor_squale in town, I took a wander round many of Exeter's finest musical emporia, where I happened on Tonus Peregrinus' Hymnes and Songs of the Church. It's essentially a set religious pieces by Orlando Gibbons, arranged and in places augmented by new pieces by Pitts & c, in a most charming manner.

Not only is it musically beguiling, but it's a Naxos, so it took less than a fiver to make it a part of my collection — things don't get much better than that.

Thanks, although I'm not sure my music reading skills are up to the job! Thanks, too, for reminding me to keep an eye out for XL — it sounded interesting when I heard Simon Halsey talked about it on CD Review a few months back.
