Tonus Peregrinus and Gibbons
Aug. 12th, 2006 07:08 pmAfter a lazy lunch with
doctor_squale in town, I took a wander round many of Exeter's finest musical emporia, where I happened on Tonus Peregrinus' Hymnes and Songs of the Church. It's essentially a set religious pieces by Orlando Gibbons, arranged and in places augmented by new pieces by Pitts & c, in a most charming manner.
Not only is it musically beguiling, but it's a Naxos, so it took less than a fiver to make it a part of my collection — things don't get much better than that.
