I loved yesterday's broadcast of Arcadia — part of the Beeb's celebration of Stoppard's 70th — so much that I listened to it again today. The production was quite sublime, with the past and present sections delimited by clever sound effects or, when the action begins to overlap, a palimpsest of effects. Sheer delight. It certainly knocked the usual daily radio play, as parodied by Mitchell and Webb in The Unreasonably Cheerful Postman, into a cocked hat.

I've just noticed something very cool in my current comic, God Save the Queen by Mike Carey and John Bolton. The way Oberon is posed in Mab's boudoir exactly mirrors the pose of Satan in Epstein's St Michael's Victory over the Devil, right down to the position of chains. A nod to Carey's Lucifer perhaps? Whatever. It's a wonderful little detail.
