Whilst nosing around for stuff on graffiti, I was really taken with the way that this piece really looks like it's exploding out of the wall in a rather wonderful trompe l'oeil effect.

I've just noticed something very cool in my current comic, God Save the Queen by Mike Carey and John Bolton. The way Oberon is posed in Mab's boudoir exactly mirrors the pose of Satan in Epstein's St Michael's Victory over the Devil, right down to the position of chains. A nod to Carey's Lucifer perhaps? Whatever. It's a wonderful little detail.

Given my well known soft spot for John Donne, it was with interest that I read Germaine Greer's article in yesterday's Grauniad about the Newbattle portrait. It seems as though the famous picture, used as a front piece on my copy of the classic Penguin anthology, is at serious risk of being sold off. As Donne said under other circumstances:

I have done one braver thing
Than all the Worthies did;
And yet a braver thence doth spring,
Which is, to keep that hid.

Or, as Germaine puts it, "As one of the most remarkable portraits of a young poet ever painted anywhere, it has a universal appeal, and we could still lose it."

Under the influence of the mimosines flooding my frontal cortex, I've taken the Dali test. It seems I'm a uniquely lovable individual:

beedream
Dream caused by the Flight of a Bee around a
Pomegranate, One Second before Awakening- You
have a unique and beautiful mind. No wonder so
many people like you and accept you. You are
aware of who you are and you do not try to be
someone else. You embrace yourself and other
people notice this and embrace you as well. You
get hugged. A lot.

Which Salvador Dali painting are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

I'm shocked and appalled. I've always thought of myself as a mercurial, difficult individual, but I guess I must be a bit low on the old self enlightenment, cuz as everybody knows, random internet tests are always more accurate than many hours of detailed omphaloskeptical analysis.

Given access to an incredibly expensive piece of equipment and a massive dose of courage, how would you decorate your powerbook?

I reckon I'd have to go for a tasteful image of Alison Goldfrapp wearing a coat. I was going to go with the whole Janus thing from Felt Mountain, but that's just way too weird for everyday life...
