The Tyrannies of Cake

I keep trying to persuade my parents that I'd really rather they didn't keep buying me endless pieces of cake from the deli, but they really don't seem to be getting the message: tonight when I suggested that it wasn't worth buying cake all the time, my mater cheerfully interpreted it as a request for more home baking. Talk about denial.

Sometimes I feel like I'm stuck in some sort of Hansel and Gretel fairytale nightmare, being fed up ready for the oven. Maybe that's what they've got planned for Thanksgiving this year...
