Eyeware crisis

This morning, my pater had a sudden crisis: he thought he'd lost his contact lenses. He looked in his normal case, but there they were not. He looked in his spare case, but found them not. He checked again, to confirm that he hadn't put both lenses into the same section or used a spare case, before eventually locating them: he was already wearing them.

I told him that at least he hadn't committed the opposite mistake and attempted to remove his contacts only to discover, by poking himself in the eyes, that he'd already removed them. I did that once and I discovered very quickly that it was not an experience I cared to repeat.
