Russian refreshments?
Dec. 5th, 2006 08:01 pmFor some unknown reason — possibly increased cultural awareness due to the Litvinenko affair — the canteen today selected Russia as its culinary destination of the day. As I passed by the hot counter, the piles of boiled potatoes, pickled cabbage and beetroots triggered a nightmarish flashbacks to the horrors of Soviet-era catering and dubious delights of Intourist. Thus it was, with some relief, that I decided to opt for salad.
