Yesterday I thought I was turning into the archetypal Guardian reader, complete with now fashionable scruffy stubble. Today however, the magisterial responses of the Gruan's true beardies have put things in perspective: a facial hair only counts as a beard if it spans two time zones and makes you look like you've just stepped out of the 19th century.
