While I don't profess to a deep knowledge of life and times of Werner H, I don't remember his being heavily involved computing theory, making me wonder if Hockney hasn't misattributed some else's work — maybe Godel's? — to Heisenberg.
Speaking of computers and confusions,
doctor_squale has directed me to a fine article about the Viglen HPC facility at QMW, in which Alan Sugar is quoted as saying:
"The complexity of this thing" will far outstrip anything the commercial market had to offer
Strange. I've never considered complexity to be a benefit when considering HPC systems, but then again, what do I know?
