I suspect that the epistolary correspondent featured in today's Guardian decrying the overuse of obscure words — in which category he included "neurotically", something that I thought had passed into common parlance long since — is probably unlikely to be a crossword enthusiast, given that he claimed to be unable to find some of the words in his dictionary.
