I don't. I'm like an old testament prophet of a sysadmin - irascible and grouchy. When the neditarian in question asked me what would happen if we installed an unsupported copy, I told him that if (when?) it broke, I'd let him keep the pieces. Talk about generosity of spirit.
Hehe ... A lady in my old group wanted nedit to do some "development" on the NEC - I politely informed her that it was vi or emacs only and she nearly cried. So being the true gentleman I am (or was) I gave her a 5 line wrapper which copied the file to localhost, launched nedit and copied it back again.
Simple.
Who needs to go on team-building exerises in the forest to improve team morale.
How can I respect anyone who's too dumb to use vi? Maybe I should put up a life sized cardboard cut out of of Richard Stallman holding his hand out and a sign saying, "You must be at least this clever to use my beautiful machine." I guess I should count my blessings: no one has (yet) asked for either Superlink or the ISPF editor.
Stallman keeps writing letters to the Independent about overpopulation. here is the lastest (http://comment.independent.co.uk/letters/article296609.ece).
ed? I don't, but one of my retro colleagues uses it for like all her day to day editing needs. This justification: it's the only editor available on the Cray in single user mode. Like it's too much trouble to mount up /usr or something.
The Stallman thing is pretty amusing. I remember reading a comment from someone who worked with Sir Richard who said something like, "We've really got to get RMS a girlfriend. He always causes less trouble when he's on the dating circuit." Maybe that's why he's so big into population growth...
