Swig diagnostics

sawylA few words of wisdom: pay attention to SWIG's diagnostic messages — it's printing those things out for a reason, y'know. If SWIG dumps out a load of info messages and the resulting code crashes for no obvious reason, take a few minutes to trace the causes of the diagnostics and then fix them so that they stop happening.
