A Holstian discovery
Dec. 2nd, 2007 03:24 pmThis week's musical discovery? Gustav Holst's exquisite part-song This Have I Done for my True Love, which sets the words of the song Tomorrow Shall be my Dancing Day. Unlike Gardiner's carol, which limits itself to the first four optimistic verses, Holst sets the song in its entirety giving the piece a much darker tone. Really rather wonderful.
