Crazy relatives
Dec. 20th, 2007 07:19 pmWith my return to Coventry, I find myself once again immersed in the craziness that is pater's family.
Apparently, there is now some doubt as to whether my paternal grandmother is going to visit for the holidays because one of my aunts is ill. The ancient materfamilias mentioned her non-attendance to another aunt, who said, "Oh, well, they'll be relieved you're to hear you're not going. They only invited you out of duty anyway. Oh, and by the way, you can't come to see me because I'm going to Bristol" Except that, (a) we're not relieved because mater has already bought a big jar of instant decafe coffee, and (b) the aunt isn't going to Bristol at all — it's all a ruse so that she won't have to see her aged parent over xmas. Talk about a dwelling in a greenhouse and throwing stones...
